Football Drills for U15s

985 football drills suitable for U15s, filtered from the full Football Coach Hub library.

U15s can handle detail, repetition and honest feedback. Sessions work best when the theme is clear from the warm up to the final game and when players are asked to solve problems themselves rather than being told where to stand.

Every practice below lists its age band, player numbers, duration, area size, ability level and the kit you need, so you can pick something that fits tonight's U15s session rather than adapting it on the pitch.

A 15 minute U15 football warm up

U15s can warm up properly and should be able to lead parts of it themselves. Build towards match intensity so the first practice starts at full speed rather than easing into it.

  1. 1

    Player-led movement prep

    5 min

Two players lead the group through jogging, dynamic mobility and three build-up runs in a 25-yard channel. Giving them the responsibility is part of the coaching.

  2. 2

    Combination passing

    5 min

Y-shaped pattern with a bounce player: set, spin, play forward, follow your pass. Both sides. Quality of the first touch is the only coaching point.

  3. 3

    Pressing rondo

    5 min

6v3 in a 15 x 15 square. The three press with triggers: press the poor touch, cut the switch, force play down one side. Whoever loses the ball goes in.

Include short repeated sprints rather than long steady running — it matches the demands of a match and suits this age far better.

Getting real intensity from U15 training drills

At U15 the difference between a good session and a wasted one is tempo. Set the area, the rules and the outcome before they start, then let the practice run and coach individuals inside it.

Keep one theme from the warm up to the final game. Pressing triggers, counter-attacking, finishing first time — pick one and make every block feed it.

  • Ask players what they saw before you tell them what you saw.
  • Score the practice — games with a scoreline lift intensity instantly.
  • Build in ball-based conditioning rather than separate fitness work.

Common questions

What should U15 training focus on?

Decision speed under pressure — pressing triggers, counter-attacks, finishing quickly — plus the physical work that supports it.

Can U15s do fitness work?

Yes, with care. Ball-based conditioning and short repeated sprints suit this age better than long steady running.
