Setup

  1. 1Create a channel with two 2-yard gates on the far line.
  2. 2Attacker with a ball at one end, defender 5 yards away.
  3. 3Queues either side of the channel.

Coaching instructions

Coaching points

  • -Attack the defender's front foot at speed
  • -Show the ball, then move it away quickly
  • -Two or three sprint touches after the move
  • -Defenders: side-on, small steps, delay the tackle

Common mistakes

  • -Slowing down after the skill
  • -Trying tricks too far from the defender
  • -Defenders diving in square-on
