Objectives
- -Deal with awkward second balls
- -Clear the danger area decisively
- -Reorganise instantly after a clearance
Setup
- 1Rebound board on the edge of the defensive area facing out.
- 2Two or three defenders inside the area, attackers waiting outside.
- 3Coach with a ball supply behind the board.
Coaching instructions
- 1Coach plays into the board so the ball spins out unpredictably.
- 2Defenders win it and clear beyond a marked halfway line.
- 3Attackers press the clearance to punish a poor one.
Coaching points
- -Attack the ball, never let it drop in the box
- -Height, distance and width on the clearance
- -Talk before the ball arrives so nobody duplicates
- -Push out together the moment it is cleared
Common mistakes
- -Waiting on heels for the ball to come
- -Clearing straight back to the attacker
- -No communication between defenders
