Objectives

  • -Dribble at speed under control
  • -Change direction with close touches
  • -Add competition to warm the group up

Setup

  1. 1Two identical slalom lines of six cones.
  2. 2Teams split behind each line with a ball each.
  3. 3Finish line marked five yards beyond the last cone.

Coaching instructions

  1. 1First player of each team races through the slalom and back.
  2. 2Tag the next player who goes when the ball arrives.
  3. 3First team to complete all players wins the round.

Coaching points

  • -Touch every one or two steps between cones
  • -Use inside and outside of the same foot
  • -Accelerate out of the last cone
  • -Head up to see the finish, not the ball

Common mistakes

  • -Kicking the ball ahead and chasing it
  • -Cutting cones out to go faster
  • -Only using one foot
