Objectives
- -Create crossing chances with an overlap
- -Deliver quality balls from wide areas
- -Coach the timing of the run outside
Setup
- 1A wide channel with an overlapping start cone behind it in a 42 x 32 yards area.
- 2Set a visible timer or have an assistant count aloud from the side of the area.
- 3Balls at the winger's cone, keeper in goal.
Coaching instructions
- 1Winger receives, drives inside and sets for the overlapping runner.
- 2The overlapping player delivers first time or after one touch.
- 3Two attackers arrive at near post and penalty spot.
- 4The clock starts the moment the first pass is played in.
- 5The sequence must reach the end action inside eight seconds or the rep is void.

- -Set the ball into the runner's path
- -Cross past the first defender
- -Runners attack, don't stand
- -Pass with pace and intent — under-hit passes cost the clock
Common mistakes
- -Overlap run too early
- -Crossing straight to the keeper
