  • -Turn ball mastery reps into usable game actions

Setup

  1. 1A grid of cones two yards apart in a 18 x 18 yards area.
  2. 2Number every station so players know exactly where they travel to next.
  3. 3One ball per player, spare balls on the coach's cone.

Coaching instructions

  1. 1Players work through sole rolls, drag-backs and toe taps between the cones.
  2. 2On the coach's call they perform the move and accelerate into free space.
  3. 3Repeat with the weaker foot leading every second round.
  4. 4Play starts at station one and the ball works round the numbers in order.
  5. 5Every player must complete each role once before the round is scored.

Coaching points

  • -Follow your pass — the movement is part of the practice

Common mistakes

  • -Eyes locked on the ball
  • -Staying in a favourite role and avoiding the harder one
