  2. 2. Play for 60 seconds then count the team total.
  3. 3. Reset the cones and challenge the group to beat their score.

Objectives

  • -Raise heart rate with a ball at every player's feet
  • -Maximise touches in a busy space
  • -Start the session with energy and smiles

Setup

  1. 1Mark a square with a cone on each corner.
  2. 2Scatter 20-30 spare cones across the middle.
  3. 3Every player starts with a ball on the outside edge.

Coaching instructions

  1. 1On the whistle players dribble in and knock cones over with the sole of the foot.
  2. 2Play for 60 seconds then count the team total.
  3. 3Reset the cones and challenge the group to beat their score.

Coaching points

  • -Head up between touches to spot the next free cone
  • -Small, quick touches with laces and inside of the foot
  • -Use both feet, especially the weaker one
  • -Change direction sharply to avoid traffic

Common mistakes

  • -Ball too far from the body when turning
  • -Eyes locked on the ball causing collisions
  • -Standing still waiting for space
