Objectives

  • -Check the shoulder before receiving

Setup

  1. 1Server at each end of a 20 yard channel.
  2. 2Middle player with a passive marker behind.
  3. 3Cone gates either side of the middle player.

Coaching instructions

Coaching points

  • -Scan twice before the ball arrives
  • -Back foot touch away from the marker
  • -Body sideways on, never square
  • -Arm out to feel where the defender is

Common mistakes

  • -Receiving with a square body
  • -Heavy first touch straight to the defender
  • -Looking only at the passer
